The Nebraska Story
by George E. Condra, James Olson, Royce Knapp
This is the state history written for Nebraska classrooms. Condra was the University of Nebraska geologist and conservationist. Olson, later the author of History of Nebraska, and Knapp wrote the narrative for students: land and climate, Native peoples, exploration, territorial years, settlement, and the state as it stood at mid-century. Townsend and Sohl supplied the illustrations. The title page carries the Great Seal of Nebraska.
It is a textbook, not a county mug-book. There is no family-sketch section. Researchers use it for the statewide frame — how a topic was taught in 1951 — and for the maps and drawings. It does not replace Olson’s later History of Nebraska or a Curtis Media county volume.
