Creighton Valley Cemetery

Discussions for organizing Creighton Valley Cemetery had begun in early 1890, land donated by “Grandma” Martha Hill as documented by a quit claim deed recorded at the Scotts Bluff County courthouse on 11 July 1890 to the trustees (Israel Roberts, S.S. Folmsbee & Harry Smith) of the Creighton Valley Cemetery officially set the location of the cemetery.

The first burial at the cemetery was for David P. Hayes, a bachelor, who had died at his home unbeknownst to anyone. His body wasn’t discovered for several days and once it was it became necessary to bury him right away for obvious reasons.
