The Ainsworth Star-Journal was a founded and published as a weekly newspaper by T.J. Smith.  The first issue was published on Wednesday, August 4, 1886 in Ainsworth, Nebraska. Sometime before May 1896 J.O. Berkley took over the paper and moved the publication day from Wednesday to Thursday but still kept it as a weekly paper. Additional historical details will be added at a later date.
